The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) draft Policy and associated documents are linked at the bottom of this message. The survey link asks for a registration (your email) so you receive information back from the survey results.
In short, a POLICY guides the redevelopment process and provides protections for residents that are not detailed in the Act*. It outlines steps the redevelopment applicant (landlord, developer) will need to take regarding notifications of redevelopment, extended notice of end of tenancy timeframe, compensation, and reporting on the process. The RDN Policy and its process of development will affect the Regional District of Nanaimo, but is a great example or other municipalities across BC.
The draft Policy, a Committee report, and the survey are linked here, as is the main MHP Redevelopment Policy page on the RDN website. We have been given permission to share this project with our membership and on the website by RDN, and have an option to also hear your comments to the Society. The survey is from RDN and is confidential, the Society does not have any access to or part in that process. Our aim is to make home owners aware of the proactive manner in which protections and assistance for home owners is available in the case of redevelopment of a MH community.
