Dear Manufactured Home Owners and Manufactured Home Owner Associations
As you know, owners of Manufactured Homes living in park communities have struggled for years under inadequate legislation that does not fit with our experience. AMHOS (BCMHO) has discovered, thanks to the careful analysis of member Gloria Wells, that there are at least six pieces of BC legislation that impact Manufactured Home ownership and that do not align with one another. Further, only one of them (the Manufactured Home Park Tenancy Act) is used to adjudicate cases under the Residential Tenancy Branch– and it is silent on many matters related to the rights of Manufactured Home Owners as homeowners with land lease tenancies. AMHOS (BCMHO) is applying to the BC Law Institute (BCLI) to propose a collaborative project to address these legislative flaws. The goal of the project is to create a set of recommendations to support the creation of new law governing manufactured homes in British Columbia and to harmonize the misaligned legislation with it.
The application deadline is April 17, and we are well on the way to meeting that deadline. However, we do need to present letters of support. Because we are limited as to the numbers of pages we can submit, we ask that you sign on to the attached petition. Please fill the petition online no later than April 15.
We will keep your returned documents and responses on file and compile all onto a single sheet for presentation with the proposal.
Thanks for taking action.
